How to disable a plug-in in Apple Safari version 4

Safari does not allow you to disable plug-ins individually (except Java). You may disable all plug-ins or uninstall them separately, but they will be deleted from all browsers. As far as the plug-in is insecure, its use may be harmful for any browser, therefore you should delete it without any doubt — you can reinstall it as soon as a patch is issued.

Java plug-in is an exception: you can disable it separately.

To view all installed plug-ins, press Alt (the menu opens), choose Help — Installed Plug-ins.

To disable all plug-ins or Java:

Step

Click in the upper right corner of your browser, choose Preferences.

Step

Click Security icon.

Step

Uncheck Enable plug-ins in the Web content panel to disable all plug-ins except Java.
